About IELTS: 

IELTS stands for The International English Languages Testing System which is the international exam organized by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, British Council and IDP Education Australia. IELTS is generally being conducted to judge the communication skills in English as a spoken and written language.IELTS is being accepted by most of the organization from Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand, US, and South African academic institutions. IELTS Exam Eligibility

The eligibility for IELTS exam is

  • Any candidates who wish to study in English country can appear for this test.
  • Candidates under the age of 16 are not allowed.
  • Students are eligible.
  • Students who are planning to study in UK, Australia, Canada, US and New Zealand.
  • People planning to emigrate to Canada, Australia or New Zealand.
  • The minimum education qualification is 10+2.

TOEFL exam Eligibility criteria 2016

There are two type of the IELTS Exam:

  • IELTS Academic Version: If you are goinng to enroll in university for higher education or want to do a professional course like Doctor , nurse then IELTS Academic Version is for you. This version is intended those who want to study in an English-speaking country.
  • IELTS General Training Version: This is for non-academic training or to gain or for immigration purposes.

Total IELTS test time  :  2hr 45min

IELTS Exam pattern : IELTS consist of four modules.

The given below table of IELTS test module. Listening, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, speaking comes in order.

IELTS Exam Syllabus:

IELTS exam consist of 4 modules Listening,Academic Reading, Academic Writing and speaking.

Two section (Listening and Speaking Modules) is same for all the candidates but Reading and Writing Modules depends on whether the candidate is taking the Academic or General Training of the Test so this two modules is different for different section.

  1. Listening Module : Listening module in IELTS exam consist of 4 section of increasing difficulty.It encompasses four recorded monologues and dialogue . Each section, which can be either a monologue or dialogue, begins with a short introduction telling the candidates about the situation and the speakers. Then they have some time to look through questions. The first three sections have a break in the middle allowing candidates to look at the remaining questions. Each section is heard only once.
  2. Reading: In the academic reading module test comprises three sections, with 3 texts normally followed by 13 or 14 questions for a total of 40 questions overall. Texts range from descriptive and factual to discursive, and analytical includes non-verbal material like diagrams, graphs and illustrations text. The General test also has 3 sections. However the texts are shorter in general test, so there can be up to 5 texts to read.
  3. Writing: In the Academic writing module consist of two tasks: where in Task 1 candidates has to describe a diagram, graph, process or chart, and Task 2 they respond to an argument. In the General Training module, there are also two tasks: in Task 1 candidates has to write a letter or explain a situation, and in Task 2 write an essay.
  4. Speaking: This section has total 3 sections. The first section is an interview in which candidates may be asked about their hobbies, interests, reasons for taking IELTS exam, general topic discussion, free time, computers and the internet or family. In the second section they give a topic card and then one minute for preparation after which candidates have to speak about the given topic. The third section is a discussion between the examiner and candidate, discussion will be on generally on questions relating to the theme which they have already spoken about in section 2. Last section is considered as most difficult section .
